If you were born during the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) era then you must have had a thrilling childhood. The SNES was ahead of other consoles in terms of technology and quality of games. Role-playing games (RPGs) played a huge role in the popularity of this console. Although the SNES was discontinued, gamers around the world still look for these consoles and games to add to their retro collection. Most of the games can be played using a virtual emulator.

The Glory of Heracles is a five-part SNES RPG that was developed by Data East. It is one of the Twitch streamer SNERDAPERDS top SNES RPG picks. The first part was released in 1987 and the other three sequels followed until 1994. Nintendo acquired the rights to the game in 2003 when Data East became bankrupt. All the games were only released in Japan Until 2009 when Nintendo released the final part of the series Glory of Heracles. In this article, we will look at the best two Glory of Heracles SNES RPGs.

Glory of Heracles 3: Silence of the Gods

The glory of Heracles 3 is considered to be the best game of the sequel which led to the release of the mobile version in 2008. Just like all the previous games, it was only released in the Japanese market.

The story starts with a young man waking up in a village and unable to recall his past. A tunnel to the underworld opens and the man falls. Surprisingly he survives without a single scratch hence discovering he is an immortal with mysterious powers. What unfolds next is fighting the monsters of the underworld as he strives to find out about his past.

People on earth are left wondering why the gods have turned their backs on them as monsters plague the earth in a quest to discover their memories. This is the first game of the series to involve immortals with amnesia.

The success of Glory of Heracles 3 led to a spin-off featuring Heracles as a playable game character for the first time. The glory of Heracles “The Gods began to move is the only spin-off of the whole series. This spin was released for the 3DS, Gameboy, and Virtual console.

Glory of Heracles 4: Gift from the Gods

This is the fourth part of the main series released after the spinoff. The plot follows the character, Epipha, and Plato from the Atlantis Mythical city. Their professor has been researching how to be an immortal which enrages the gods. Heracles invades the city with his army but it’s already too late for him to quit once he realizes the people are harmless.

As the professor and his students try to escape they set free evils contained in a pandora’s box. Plato and the player are accidentally locked inside the Pandora box for 9000 years. After the awakening they team, up with Heracles to try to restore the world with their mysterious powers. Due to high demand, the game was translated unofficially in 2016.
